Re: frequent "timeout 08" timeouts

...I guess I shall ask, How much time subjectivly did "Method I" took? It's my last straw really... I'd run it again for a less subjective answer if I weren't running out the door shortly, but as I recall the first 8 lines or so of method 1 went by very fast, 10 seconds total perhaps. It took aroun...

Yes, I am running a 64 bit install. I'll let you know the results hopefully this weekend.

Re: frequent "timeout 08" timeouts

I'm afraid I'm not the most technically savvy linux user out there. Did you mean to make the executable using the -d flag? If so, I did that and it behaves as before. I'm not sure where to look in the debugging into that got output to find anything giving any clues.

Runs without issue on WinXP on the same PC. Will post more with log info from the unix install later.

Re: Spell ranges, darkness, monster vision question

I'm around +60 to hit, so it might be worth a try anyway. I'll have to do some testing with my short bow on the range to see if it's as long as the crossbow you were using. Would like a longbow for the multiplier, but +21/+30 is keeping me with the short until I find better. By line of sight being 2...

Re: Spell ranges, darkness, monster vision question

if you can range attack him, he can range attack you Does the reverse then apply: If I cant range attack him (assuming the exception would be blindness), he can't range attack me? So could I purposely drop telepathy and lower my infravision in order to hit him by firing arrows blind down the corrid...

Spell ranges, darkness, monster vision question

So I've leveled up fairly high but still consider myself a bit of a newbie as to how things work, and I'm wondering about the following, specifically with a ranger in mind: If I've tunneled out a fairly long corridor, filled it with runes of protection, and lead a unique down it with me at a dead en...

Auto-get inscription

I'd enjoy seeing a feature where a specific inscription (like "=g") would cause you to auto-pick up an inscribed item. Specifically I'm thinking of arrows, which I find myself having to weed out of the stuff monsters drop every time I kill something with missiles.

Re: frequent "timeout 08" timeouts

I'll check out the logs on my box to see if there is anything additional I can post. It's also set up to dual boot to win XP, so I'll install the Windows client when I have a chance to eliminate the possibility of network issues. My laptop running SUSE works fine, but it's on a different part of the...

frequent "timeout 08" timeouts

Just compiled on debian etch and everything runs fine except that the game closes out with a "Quitting: timeout 08" message any time I idle for more than a few seconds. If I'm constantly moving, typing, etc, it's fine, but if I just sit there without sending any input it crashes out. Any ideas?
