And a new update... Server side: ----------- - special artifact rarities back to vanilla values - stats are rerolled until primary stat = 17, secondary stat >= 16 and third stat >= 15 - random artifacts implemented - auto-id ability implemented - gloves can give extra mana capacity - starting stuff ...

Ok.. the idea is to start a new variant based on latest MAngband 0.7.3 and add some features to make it less "boring". I'll start from Jug's source code which will allow classic/ironman servers to be compiled. Currently, the vanilla client is enough to connect to those types of servers, but since I ...

Have you ever considered adding the following?
1) 90 day timer on inactive characters
2) artifacts can't be dropped in houses
This would solve the problem, no?

Something even funnier (which cannot happen on regular Mangband, but on TomeNET it can): inscribe autocursing gear (amulets of DOOM for example) with {!=} (autopickup). Instant laugh...

Did I mention that cells like that have monsters that are 80 levels out of depth in TomeNET? So basically under 1k you can get anything... ;)

That's not scary at all... well for Mangband maybe. In TomeNET, I've encountered a cell like that at 800ft with Ungoliant, Tiamat, a GB, a black reaver and Cantoras. Didn't see anyone play on the Ironman server for days...
On the ladder, one can witness a lot of characters that have been started, played 5 mins and then abandonned forever. It's sad... :'(

BTW, this only seems to occur on the ironman server. I tried to reproduce the bug on other servers but couldn't.

Are you using WinXP? Each time I reinstall a Mang/TomeNET client with WinXP I get the same problem... which is easily fixed by rebooting my computer.

More testing reveals of course that the 'spare' cash can be used to buy endless amounts of items from the BM... that can be duplicated like the rest. Imagine getting endless amounts of stat pots, xp pots, weapons, armor parts... then connect a 'real' character and harvest the cheezed (at this point ...
