Re: Compiling error on Ubuntu 13.04
Sorry about that! The floor() functions would be removed from the next version, making the libm dependency non-existent.

Re: New Player Help
Pretty common question (do we have a FAQ around here?)... Thing is, you can walk diagonally, using the numpad or pgup/pgdn/home/end or letters (in rogue-like keyset).PowerWyrm wrote:just walk on the tile marked as '8' to exit the spawn building.

Re: Term 4 Window crash
Thanks for your feedback.
That part (the term-4 hack) of the code uses an ancient WinApi, which probably doesn't work properly anymore on Windows 8.
We'll look into it and are hoping to make next minor release Win8 compatible. That, unfortunately, might take a while :(

Re: Making stealth more relevant
Energy-wasting or not, time does pass in mangband world. It can slow down or speed up, but it never halts. It's not a turn-based game anymore. By your proposal, *nothing at all* should happen unless you spend energy (extreme time bubbles?), for consistency sake. Which could actually be kinda interes...

I'd say begone spoiler bots! Hopefully we'll be able to move them to their own #spoiler channel or something in the future.

Re: Making stealth more relevant
I kinda agree, but we shall remember that time *does* pass in mangband when you're just standing around. I mean you wear all that clunky gear, shifting from one foot to another, your light playing tricks on the surrounding walls, etc. Is there some way to go kinda half-way through with this suggesti...

Re: Make The One Ring more dubious
Hmm, what if we add some more punch to the 'aggravate' flag for all the items?
Like 'aggravate' == spawns nazguls near you every random turn :)

Re: Auto-removal artifact timers
Depends on what you consider inactivity... If you leave for holidays and come back only to see your character is now unplayable because you lack stats/resistances and you have no way to regain them, I guess you would be really pissed off. I'm also against "timed" artifacts. Sometimes you don't want...

Re: Make it so you can sell a specific # of items in a stack
Yeah, sorry, that'll just introduce more bugs and questionable situations, while the benefit of having this implemented is really small. Not to mention it will re-balance things quite a bit, as floor space is a valuable resource.

Re: Make it possible to not have to retire upon *King*
Auto-retire simply makes people avoid the morgy fight, considering they won't be able to play their character anymore. So you get the opposite effect of what you wanted! That's actually true :( How about having each character to age slowly so you have to fight morgy or die trying one day :) I like ...
