Re: Heal appearance in 7 nerfed too hard?
If healing potions and other critical consumables were freely available in 7, people would be able to play the game, and it wouldn't become a shopping simulator anymore then it already is for other, more readily available consumables(like identify/WoR scrolls and CCWs at lower levels). Now, that mig...

Re: Heal appearance in 7 nerfed too hard?
I'm bumping this. I spend way more time scumming for heal/*destroy* then actually playing, and that's not the way a game should work. I can understand endgame potions like *heal*(although I'll probably have more to say about this one once I start clearing page 5) and life, but come on, I'm still wor...

Re: Buying Istaris with Confusion
Solved it. Swapped a Nether Elven for a Nether Aman, allowing me to use mirks and a Nexus shield with my magi for a full set of resistances. Then I made a very lucky gamble in 7 which netted me a Confusion shield, allowing me to switch boots and amulet back. Avenger is a Warrior - in previous versio...

Re: Buying Istaris with Confusion
And here I was thinking confusion wasn't a very sought after resistance... well, I don't have several millions, nor can I dive without confusion resistance. I might be able to rebalance my gear, but it will be far less optimal. Otherwise, I'm retired till I can find confusion gloves or cloak on an a...

Buying Istaris with Confusion
Edit: Solved. Title. Died to, presumably, lag, in an antisummoning corridor with loot on the floor. Ghosted up since no loot was salvageable and no one was on to attempt a rescue. I've been able to rebuild most of my abilities, but I'm missing confusion resist. Could rework my build to fit it into a...

Re: Randarts
We could also simply treat randarts like current arts and disallow housing. Not quite so necessary, since hoarding them won't impact the game the same way as the limited arts we have now, but if it will help alleviate concerns of randarts accumulating, I'm ok with it.

Re: Heal appearance in 7 nerfed too hard?
I don't particularly like that solution, mostly because they already turn over very quickly. It'd be even easier to lose good items you need to grab cash to buy, and wouldn't improve the generation rates of rare consumables very much. Still, it's an idea, and one that might help at least slightly.

Randarts
The artifact replacement solution fully endorsed by Avenger. Warrior directed me here from a reply on a thread about randart generation, and on a brief scan of the first page, I didn't see any randart threads, so here we go. Now, I'm also in favor of new and improved ego items, but, while they're gr...

Heh, sorry, haven't browsed forums too much since I've been back - I mostly go looking for active threads, or posting my own. I'll have a look ;)

Heal appearance in 7 nerfed too hard?
I'm down to my last 8, and I get a new one in 7 maybe every 20-40 minutes. To progress, I'll need to spend inordinate amounts of time scumming the black market. Low levels aren't common enough to rely on as a source of heal potions, nor do they find all that many in any case - and there are also a l...

Re: An example of Randart generation "gone wrong"
I don't really see how cherry picking extremely rare examples of randarts is a case against them. They're not going to accumulate, because players won't be able to house them - they could sell them right away, assuming a buyer willing to pay a worthwhile price is on or comes on soon, otherwise, they...

Re: Morgoth and The One Ring
Maybe resurrect Sauron and/or all Nazgul for all players? That might still be too negative, though.

Re: Stoping Alter Reality from becoming even more powerful
Next server, it will be impossible to go past 4950/5000 before sauron/morgoth, which I believe is a good thing. Sorry, what? According to your post, next server it'll be impossible to go below 5k without killing Morgoth, and on the current server, killing Morgoth forces autoretirement. Unless the l...

Rod of Disarming?
Edit: This issue seems to have resolved itself. Odd that it came up at all, though.
Recently, my rod of disarming has not been prompting me for a direction. It just apparently zaps the square I'm on, and nothing else, which is only useful for chests, and quite pointless for floor traps. What gives?
