MAngband

Ok... I downloaded the client from mangband.org.uk and I tried to connect to the ironman server. After character creation, the client simply freezes. After a (long) while, the client either crashes or says "couldn't connect to server - try again?"
Note that I tried this when there were people connected on the server. Note also that there is absolutely no problem to connect to any other server with that client. So... what could be the porblem?

Interesting.  There was a bug fix in the server the other day which fixed an issue where new players sometimes couldn't connect.  But this is perhaps unlikely to be the cause of your problem.

I would suggest this:

* Try connecting again to see if you still have the same problem today.
* Download the official client from here and try that.

If you still have problems could you please answer the following questions so I can try and reproduce your problem:

1. Which version of Windows are you running?
2. What was the name of the character you were creating?
3. From which country are you connecting?

I just noticed the http://mangband.org.uk/ironman.php link is not loading properly, with "Could not read input file" appearing in place of the expected content.

You are probably hitting it just as I am working on it.  Try again, and it should be fine.

I've just been adding the competition specific stuff on the ladder.
