MAngband

I been having some difficulties keeping the server going. I had to revert back to the January savefile again :-/ <br><br>I'm also considering starting the server fresh, and wiping it clean, in hope it will run a bit more reliable. Let me know what you guys think about that.

hi I've been playing mangband for a while. I think you shouldt clean out the players that havent played for a while, cause we others that play there often and are working hard on our chars doesent want them erased.

anyway if that is able, (or not) I hope the server will soone be back up

The server is down due to the storms that hit CA. It is remotely hosted on a wireless connection, and the winds brought the tower down, we hope to have it back up within a couple of days :-/

MAngband 0.8.0 exists in thought only. From my past talks with Crimson, I have gathered that it was almost finished at one point a few years ago but it was horribly broken in some ways, so he scrapped it. It would have taken more work to fix it than to redo it, thus that path was chosen.

To make a long story short, you won't find it until it's done. You can try 6.4.3 anytime you want, though, and feel free to make suggestions.

What do you expect from 0.8.0?

and I hope you will add some more classes and races
(maby you can fiks it so you don't have to defeat morgy to wear the crown  ;))

It's different and there are a lot of new things. You might like it, or you might not. You really have to try it for yourself to decide.

I have tried it, and it's fun
but I'd like if there where one of the 6.4.3. servers was like cheezeband

how can i mace an own server (new server) ???

If you want your own server, you should at least have these three things:

A fast, stable connection, so that people can play without much lag or downtime.
Linux, to run the server program.
Programming skillz, to create features that make people actually want to play on that server.

If you have that stuff, download a server and it should appear on the mangband metaserver when it's running.

And "programming skillz" to fix the bugs that the ever-inquisitive player base somehow finds. (Typical thought process: Q: Hey, what happens if I drop this on a door and close it at the same instant I recall, while fighting five summoning monsters?  A: I smite thee with mine bolts of death for crashing the game server in previously un-thought-of ways that also make it ignite into flames)
