In the ladder, if someone was killed by say, starvation or a potion of detonations, and they want to see how many people died that way, they should be able to click "Starvation" and see.
Right now it is just a blank page.

Agreed. That way, poison will be less of a character-sinkhole.

Poison is actually a bug. The real cause of the 16 level 20+ deaths is AMHD.

Then maybe it should store what monster/item caused such a status ailment. Just like Nethack says you died while helpless, it could be:

Dude the level 32 High-Elf Ranger killed by poison from an Ancient Multi Hued Dragon(2 Dec 08)
or
Blah the level 4 High-Elf Ranger killed by poison from a potion of Poison(2 Dec 08)
