Shop selling

Post by grisu » Tue 10.06.2008, 00:26

It happens now 2 times in 2 different houses that I found a small amount of gold pieces(<60) in the house.
I havent sold anything that low (including missiles). I dont know, if I sold something and the amount is wrong
or if it has another reason, but something went wrong.

I have noticed that happen to me a few times. For example, I might have a stack of Healing potions that sells and leaves behind maybe 6k in gold.

Do you know what items specifically have sold when that happens?

Dunno if it's related... for PWMAngband I have modified the routine that computes selling prices after having found rings of speed in BM selling for 1 gold piece. The routine was computing the price as (base price) * factor / div, all of those as integers, but since base price * factor was overflowing the integer limit, the result price was negative, therefore rounded to 1. Did you try to sell something for an insane price?

I have found that problem now to. Logged in after few days of absence and amount of gold received was 54 GP ... this is odd because iam sure that i did not have something licke this for sale. It s not that important but selling is not fun / safe to do. I am better of selling to the computer shops.

Dont know what was sold :(

Maybe someone can remember (large house top left of the town)

[NO BUG] Player Shop: buying for less and disappearing items

Post by Kom » Sun 02.11.2008, 23:25

So, on mangband.org my friend zapoila bought a strength potion from my shop for 60 au... I went and checked it out and sure enough, i had one strength potion less and 54 gold sitting there on the ground... As i looked around the rest of my shop, I noticed that my scroll of acquirement was missing as well. No clue how it happened and i just lost a very valuable item. I doubt this post will help much but still this is extremely aggravating.

there is a percentage deducted from your selling price.

Maybe you dropped something in your house and it destroyed the acquirement scroll?

How can you buy a str pot for 60 gold anyway?

He's (or she's) stroking you Kom. I just went through the logfiles for that period (and back a few days from your post) and there's no entry for Zapoila buying a STR pot anywhere. Berzerk STR, yes, STR no.

Huh, strange... i'd still like to figure out what happened to the acquirement though... when i had checked there was an empty space in it's place, and i had plenty of other spaces near the scroll too, so it couldn't have been destroyed.

I doubt there is a bug involved here... there are too many ways to destroy a scroll accidentally.

It's also easy to leave the door to the house open... I just found one at -450ft (points at ZalPri).

I leave my house doors open WAY too much...Twice I've paid off people to leave the house and just take one item.

This bug is now confirmed. I've tested with a Potion of Charisma.
Player #1 put a chr pot {for sale}.
Player #2 checks the store and sees a chr pot for 3000 gold.
Player #2 buys the potion for 60 gold.
Player #1 finds 54 gold in house.

Warning: this bug is non-reproducible. I've tried again with a Potion of Restore Mana, and the price was correct. Is this bug related to stat pots only? Unaware flavored items? This seems more complex than it appears...
