I've compiled the mangband 1.1.2 source with an amd64 processor (Phenom X4) under Ubuntu Server 9.04
I was testing out my mangband server from a friend's house when I dropped some gold and we both got outrageous error messages. It seems the gold dropping command killed the whole server; I had to ssh in to start it up again. After that, I did it again, and the server crashed. The only relevant output I get is this:
010809 230002 Unexpected signal, panic saving.
010809 230002 server panic info save succeeded!
Then it segfaults. Any ideas?
Dropping gold crashes server
Re: Dropping gold crashes server
Hi there,
This sounds like an old bug that should be resolved ages ago, have you modified your source in any way?
Which branch did you download/compile?

Re: Dropping gold crashes server
I just ran into this problem as well. 64 bit Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
Any attempt to drop gold causes a crash. I compiled from the svn repo...
URL: http://mangband.org/svn/mangband/branches/version-1_1_3
Revision: 1549

Re: Dropping gold crashes server
Issue #417 was closed as "can't reproduce". Seems that it can be reproduced, at least with 64 bit Ubuntu OS.
Re: Dropping gold crashes server
Ok. If there is anything I can do to help (provide crash logs, run a debug build, etc) please let me know.
