So i was attempting to clear P pit when the doorbell rang so i hid behind a wall and ran to answer by the time i got back i was dead... so i tried to float up and got rammed by a storm giant and fo rsome reason couldn't float anywhere and have sense lot the boots feanor and forasgil and ALL the mage books =( cry time

Thats really really harsh, you had such a great character going there.
Buuut, you know, going AFK in the dungeon is like ALL the seven deadly sins combined into one in MAngband, doing it will kill you! I think pretty much all of us learned that the hard way. :/ But you'll come back even stronger next character!

BTW... I wouldn't stand too close to a P pit now... Storm giants can cast TELE_TO, and if you're unlucky to get teleported INSIDE the P pit (this happened to one of my chars recently), you'll be crushed by dozens of boulders before you can react (pits can have 100 monsters, each dealing 30-50 dam with a boulder, so it could really hurt).
