IRC server change

We're moving our IRC channels to a new home. Starting May 8th, mangband IRC Channels will be located on the freenode network, moving from perl.org.
To connect, use irc.freenode.net, or pick a server from their list.

Although we are not moving until May 8th, it is encouraged that you visit the new network and register your chat name before someone else registers it.
You can register your nickname by using the command
/msg nickserv register
from the nickname that you would like to use. Our channel is also already setup there so you can join #mangband.

We hope that this does not cause any problems for anyone and we really look forward to seeing you online.

Didn't have to register any nickname... the old one worked instantly after simply changing the server name.

Registration of nicks on freenode is optional. But if someone else registers the name you normally use, you may find yourself unable to use it. Although you will still be able to use similar names. For example, I can't use "Jug" because it's already registered, so I use "Jug-".

The user that registered "Jug" hasn't been online for 44 weeks, if you contact an admin they'll hand you the name...

Hmm, you could try irc.mangband.org, or a server from their list. Edit: link in the original post gives you the list.

I got in now... Weird weird programs. IRC doesn't agree with ZAL.
