I downloaded the client and the server dl. So when i get home i can just click .exe something and ztart playing? Like no compiling or anything fancy?

You don't need the server unless you want to play by yourself. Just start up the client and connect to an existing server. The official mangband servers will be Tue twobservers at the top. The second one is ironman which isn't for beginners.
