Setting escape to a macro

I accidentally set my escape key to a macro and can no longer use the escape key to exit menus and the like, i have to use the ` key instead. saving it as an empty macro doesn't help either, i still can't use the escape key. Am i missing something or is there really a problem with this?

Identity macros set the trigger key to its original function. So in your case:
Macro options menu, (6) Create an identity macro, Esc key for the trigger.
