The air about you becomes charged...
You have 2 Scrolls of Word of Recall {1300}.
You feel yourself yanked downwards!
You feel there is something special about this level.
The air about you becomes charged...
You have a Scroll of Word of Recall {1300}.
It magically summons an undead adversary!
It tries to blank your mind.
You resist the effects!
You hit the Vampire.
You hit the Vampire.
You miss the Vampire.
You hit the Vampire.
You hit the Vampire.
You hit the Vampire.
You have destroyed the Vampire.
It casts a nether bolt.
It teleports away.
Morgoth, Lord of Darkness hits you.
Morgoth, Lord of Darkness hits you.
Morgoth, Lord of Darkness hits you.
You feel weak for a moment, but the feeling passes.
You feel clumsy for a moment, but the feeling passes.
You feel sickly for a moment, but the feeling passes.
You feel stupid for a moment, but the feeling passes.
You feel naive for a moment, but the feeling passes.
You feel ugly for a moment, but the feeling passes.
Morgoth, Lord of Darkness touches you.
You hit Morgoth, Lord of Darkness.
You hit Morgoth, Lord of Darkness.
You hit Morgoth, Lord of Darkness.
You miss Morgoth, Lord of Darkness.
You hit Morgoth, Lord of Darkness.
You feel something focusing on your mind.
Your mind is blasted by psionic energy.
You die.
What to say about this one except... ROFLMAO

You tunnel into the granite wall.
The prayer has expired.
The wall turns into mud!
You unstack your wand.
You have 1 charge remaining.
It casts a mana bolt.
The Greater basilisk breathes gas.
You are poisoned!
You miss Saruman of Many Colours.
You hit Saruman of Many Colours.
You hit Saruman of Many Colours.
It hurls a boulder at you!
Saruman of Many Colours gestures fluidly.
You are engulfed in a whirlpool.
You have been stunned.
You are confused!
You die.
Be sure you really want to do that before opening a Zoo of Concentrated Death...

Quaker, Master of Earth hits you.
Quaker, Master of Earth misses you.
Quaker, Master of Earth misses you.
Quaker, Master of Earth hits you.
The cave quakes! You are pummeled with debris!
You are severely crushed!
You die.
This is a situation where you need to heal yourself, even if you're still displayed as a @. Quakes can do 300 damage. You must ensure that you have at least 300 hps at any time while fighting monsters like Quaker.

The Gravity hound breathes gravity.

You die.
See http://mangband.org/developer/ticket/651.
Gravity effect can be applied multiple times for a single breath, which makes the attack the most lethal of all breaths. Gravity hounds must me avoided at all cost due to that bug, not mentioning Kavlax which gravity breath does 200 dam for EACH time the effect is applied, which could be twice, three times...

What makes you think a CCW will save you against a Nightwalker? Especially when you have Teleport Other, Teleport, *Destruction*, Heal...

The Undead beholder bites you.
You feel your life draining away!
You do not have enough mana.
You hit the Undead beholder.
You hit the Undead beholder.
You miss the Undead beholder.

The Water hound breathes acid.
Your Pair of Hard Leather Boots is damaged!
The Undead beholder gazes at you.
The Undead beholder bites you.
You die.
Zal, you were wondering why your macros didn't work...
If you tried to cast a spell, the Undead Beholder drained all your mana:
The Undead beholder draws psychic energy from you!
The Undead beholder appears healthier.
This guy also has the ability to drain charges... so if you tried to use Teleport Other or *Destruction*, the wands/staves were empty.
The only macros that could have worked here were heals or scrolls of *destruction*.

See my thread about sound resistance...
Even priests should carry CCWs when they don't have res conf, blind and sound.

The CCW's here would not have made any difference, he didn't have res sound.
Are you not entertained?
Is this not what you came here for?

Yeah. But the undead beholder doesn't drain charges before you're in melee, and I tried alot of macros as he was walking from max range up to me and killed me (at around 2500 feet) he moved quite fast. I had a macro for reading *dest* but it didn't fire.

I did use pot of healing macro as well, but I wasn't expecting my macros not to work since I've never had that problem before. I'm unsure if it could've been lag, but I did get at least some screen updates. Still baffled. All that I do know is that I did try a spell or 2 till I realized my SP were drained. Then I tried everything else except for pressing q1 or r4 ;(

CCWs would have made a difference if quaffed at "Stunned" or "Very Stunned" which happened way before the KO. Without them and no other means of teleport than spells, the doom was inevitable...

Were your macros inscribed with \e? And is \e really working now? If you pressed spells too many times without mana, did those spell macros cost energy and prevent more actions to be taken?

I would've waited till I was strong enough to kill him an used a special kind of arrows and I wouldn't have taken on 2 uniques at once... That's just suicidal.

I would prefer having 2 speed rings or 1 ring and boots of speed before taking on Sauron. Also max con. I didn't have enough speed for Sauron at all with that ranger.

When it's not your day... it's really not your day. Both Gorlim and this char had very little hp left. Unfortunately Gorlim decided to cast a bolt spell...
A good description of a fight "to the death" though...
