Playing mistakes (warrior)

Post by PowerWyrm » Thu 26.08.2010, 12:47

The melee counterpart of my previous post...

The character: hobbit warrior, level 34

[Character Equipment]

a) a Dagger of Extra Attacks (1d4) (+10,+10) (+2) {excellent - Mim, Betrayer of }
b) a Light Crossbow of Power (x3) (+7,+8) {excellent - Boldor, King of the Yeeks}
c) a Ring of Speed (+10)
d) a Ring of Damage (+17)
e) an Amulet of Terken (+8 to searching)
f) a Brass Lantern (with 13208 turns of light)
g) Balance Dragon Scale Mail (-2) [30,+21]
h) a Cloak of Protection [1,+17]
i) an Orcish Shield of Resist Cold [5,+9] (+1)
j) a Golden Crown of Telepathy [0,+7] {75% off}
k) a Set of Leather Gloves of Agility [1,+6] (+3)
l) a Pair of Metal Shod Boots of Stability [6,+6]

Another mid level character with endgame gear... (/me suspects some illegal "dumping" practices in MAngband nowadays...)
No res confusion, no res blind. This means carrying a truckload of CCWs and staves of teleportation.
No res base... asked for trouble here.

Fighting Ariel:
- she can cast lightning balls powerfully... how are you supposed to live without resist lightning?
- she can hit to confuse... this means that without res confusion, every hit will confuse you and you will have to use a CCW to cure the status, losing a turn (during which she can confuse you again!)
- out of CCWs during the fight: you were not carrying enough of them

[Character Inventory]

d) 13 Potions of Speed {90% off}
e) 11 Scrolls of Teleportation

These should be macroed. Scrolls won't help here without resist confusion, you need staves instead. See my other post concerning resists around 2000ft. It's too bad losing stuff like BDSM, speed ring +10 and dam ring +17 because of not knowing monsters/resists.
