The Time Hound

Here's a description of the little bastard:

See how many high level players (and even veteran players) have already died to a little puppy!
Upon seeing a time hound... or more likely a pack of them... you should really plan what to do carefully. When in doubt... run away, teleport or even *des*. If you really want to fight them, be sure you can stay in LOS of only one of them at a time. Remember they have a speed of +20 and can breathe time to lower your stats. This means you can end up with low str/dex, and your warrior will fight less well, low int/wis, and your spellcaster will fail spells more often, and less con, and your character will be less likely to survive hits.
The worst scenario is probably getting those hounds summoned: since they will get the first turn, 10-12 breaths are probably enough to wipe even the toughest warrior. Be really careful with monsters than can summon animals (in particular, avoid the mystics -- they are not worth it), and even more carefully those that can summon hounds (Dwar, Draugluin...). If you want to kill such summoners, use an antisummon corridor, so that in the worst case only one summoned hound is in LOS. And be sure to have some means to *des*, and macro it.
And one last word: NEVER go up stairs below 2550ft without the finger on the *des* macro!!!
