MAngband

I am curious as to how many players the mangband server could handle before becoming unstable? The reason being, is we are planning on trying a mangband tournament, and want to have ALOT of players, and I am wondering if the server has issues when more than 30 people are loaded on it, or if it will just be more of a CPU/network load than the daemon itself.

We've had it loaded to about 100 clients before with no appreciable problems.   Above that has never been tested.  Alex Dingle reported a long time back that the physical limit was probably 255 characters, bu t that the server started performing very badly  long before that.  he didn't elaborate on how far before that the performance started being impaired.
