Feather Falling

Post by Avenger » Tue 22.04.2003, 13:09

I don't know whether this has been posted elsewhere or not yet, but it seems feather falling actually does provide some resistance to the effects of gravity. I was looking into other web sites with information about mangband, and I came across this site:
http://www.angband.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/mang.html
According to this site, feather falling granted this resistance in version 0.7.0 beta. I am not sure if this is true or not, but if Crimson could verify this and, if it is true, explain exactly what this resistance does, it would be appreciated.

Resist Gravity is an ILLUSION. Avenger's idea was correct: Some of the effects are dampened by FF. There is no way to fully resist gravity in the same fashion that you can resist cold, for example.

(I can't count the number of times I've said this to various people in-game.)

There is actually a reason for this.  Not every attack in the game has a counter.  There's no sure way to win, etc.   Level 50 characters can and do die from a simple pack of hounds.
Are you not entertained?
Is this not what you came here for?
