Well, I went to the IP address displayed on the login screen (212.19.84.141) and found a screen referencing a web hosting company based in England (
http://www.unidentified.co.uk).  I then used the domain name locator to search for the URL given at the server login screen, 
http://www.morgoth.co.uk, and found more specific data concerning it.  It stated that "This registation is DETAGGED" then gave a URL to go to for more information on the DETAGGED status (
http://www.nominet.org.uk/ref/detagged.html).  Apparantly the admin needs to renew the hosting service before the server will start up again (this explains why it went down on Sept. 1st--end of billing period); fortunately, the domain name locator says that the renewal request is being processed.  We'll just have to wait and see...
