So about the server move ...

Post by Fink » Sun 31.10.2004, 21:46

re: The site frontpage news item about the server being moved to a swank new line - has this happened yet?

My connection to isengard has been pretty choppy for, I dunno, three weeks to a month or so - enough to make me not feel safe diving deep. Recently, it's gotten even worse.

So, anyone have any info on this topic? I'm itching to play, but don't want to die due to the TimeOut beast!

Here's all I know.

We supposedly moved to the new line within a few weeks after the announcement on Sept. 2. So we're there now.

Your connection is only going to get worse as Internet traffic increases, which has been the trend since it was invented by Al Gore in the 1960s. (Ahem.)

So... the only solution is really to fund the game... enough to create something free and similar Battle.net, which has definitely not ever happened before. We're always up for ideas.

I honestly don't understand why you respond to forum posts.

I answered your question, and explored ways to improve the problem you referred to. And I tried to get the point across that you should play now before it gets worse.

Being the admin, I have to at least monitor things around here. Also, I've coded a variant and ran a server myself and had in-depth conversations with Crimson about the way things work. Therefore I have a large amount of insight that basically nobody else around here has.

If you don't like me/that, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

You see my point.

Anyhoo, not only is my connection suddenly good, its even better than to the old server by a couple dozen milliseconds! Hoohah!
