Not really a new class... Check birth.txt for basic info.

Monks are barehanded fighters which use martial arts techniques instead of weapons. With levels, they also gain interesting abilities: feather falling, resistances to fear and confusion, free action, extra damage, defense and attacks.

What is the best race for a Monk? Any race can make a good monk, but obvious choices are:
- dragon: since the race already cannot use weapons, a Dragon Monk is an obvious race/class combo; dragons also get an innate breath weapon, which is probably the best thing you can get as a ranged attack for a monk
- yeek: fast leveling means quicker way to obtain those extra blows per round; and since you don't use weapons as a monk, you don't really care about STR and DEX

So how to play a Monk? Basically you will struggle a lot at low level, when your melee attack is weak as hell and your ranged attack totally inexistant. My strategy to play a Monk would be the following:
- play a Dragon for (somewhat) easier life (not recommended if you want to level fast... past level 30 Dragons are a PitA to level, it requires 1 to 10M xp to gain a level)
- at birth, go to shop 1 and spend all you cash on flasks of oil; inscribe your stack with @v0 and macro throwing flasks: at low level, they will be your best source of damage (2d4 compared to 1d4 for thrown rocks and 1d3 for melee attack)
- go level in the wilderness (and preferably during daytime): the dungeon, and even the town, are not safe for a low level Monk
- if you play a Dragon, try to reach level 5 in the wilderness to get access to your breath weapon; if not, try to reach level 10 to get a second bpr
- on mature servers, check every player shop in search for randart rocks/shurikens; on clean servers, scum low levels for "special" feelings... and hope it's an art/randart rock/shuriken
- once you dive in the dungeon, play very conservative: remember that your to-hit/to-dam is relatively low compared to a character using a weapon
- reaching level 25 is the key: it gives you access to useful abilities (rfear, rconf, fa... three less abilities to care for), and you can now concentrate on getting more to-hit/to-dam; martial arts techniques should also start to be much more effective (slowing effects, stunning effects...)
- after level 30, you get one extra blow per round every 5 levels and things should be much easier
