Cannot connect to IRC channel
Cannot connect to IRC channel
Connection is rejected with: "unable to join channel (invite only)". Sup?
Re: Cannot connect to IRC channel
I'm sorry, we've recently reclaimed the channels, to get ops etc and for some reason it was set to invite only. Thanks for the notice, not sure I'd have spotted that :)

Re: Cannot connect to IRC channel
Still got problems with the channel: "#mangband Cannot send to channel" when typing something.
And the mangband bot doesn't seem to display anything...

Re: Cannot connect to IRC channel
It has been a few days now that I can't connect to IRC again. Sup?
Re: Cannot connect to IRC channel
With the same error as above? And does this still happen? (considering we're noticing it 8 days later)PowerWyrm wrote:It has been a few days now that I can't connect to IRC again. Sup?

Re: Cannot connect to IRC channel
Nope, it seems that the whole freenode server is down (or unavailable). Has MAngband channel moved?
Re: Cannot connect to IRC channel
No, the MAngband channel has not moved, and from what I can tell, the Freenode network is still up, perhaps you've just been connection to a poor server?

Re: Cannot connect to IRC channel
What's the command to connect to the #mangband channel directly? I'm using mIRC and I don't see any special parameter attached to the link I have on the desktop.
Re: Cannot connect to IRC channel
I'm not sure exactly how it is done in mIRC, but in ChatZilla it is done by specifying the server as:
If you are already connected to Freenode, a simple join should suffice:
Specifying the channel won't help if you're not connected to Freenode though. If connecting to Freenode as a network doesn't work, you can try to specify chat.freenode.net as server, which will assign you to the assumed closest server, otherwise there is a list of servers on their website: http://freenode.net/irc_servers.shtml
Code: Select all
irc://freenode/MAngband
Code: Select all
/join #MAngband

Re: Cannot connect to IRC channel
Ok it works now. I was using irc.freenode.net as server name, which was not working. Using chat.freenode.net instead fixed the problem.
